The FCC has revised Amateur Service Part 97 rules to grant credit for written examination elements 3 (General) and 4 (Amateur Extra) to holders of “expired licenses that required passage of those elements.”. The FCC will require former licensees – those falling outside the 2-year grace period – to pass Element 2 (Technician) in order to be relicensed.

There is a major storm in that part of the world and it is playing havoc with the VK9MT DXpedtion. They have announced they may be forced to leave the reef and return to Australia. No spots have been seen since about 1414Z on April 4.

Willy MacLean, W1LY, met with officials at the new KVH Manufacturing facility located at 75 Enterprise Drive, Middletown, RI. They have graciously agreed to host our club meetings. Willy described the meeting as very enthusiastic. KVH has several hams on staff, and there is always a possibility to groom more. Details on locating the meeting room will be sent in an upcoming member email, and will be posted on the main page of the website soon.

This is the best finish and the highest score, along with the largest number of participants (back as far as the online records go). Prior to this the best finish was 7th place. Plus this marks the third time that we have finished in the top 10 nationwide.
