Are you prepared? Hurricane Season is underway!

NOAA has announced a much greater than normal Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook with 17 to 25 named storms and 4-7 major ones.

With this in mind, are you ready for this year’s hurricane season?  Do you have a plan for protecting your home and family?  See this resource for planning help.

Are you currious about the data that backs up the forecast?  There is an excellent 15 minute long discussion about how the transition from El Nino to La Nina, water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic, and upper level winds all factor into the probability of hurricanes.

Congratulations to Presential Scholar KC1KUF

Congratulations go out to NCRC member Ryan KC1KUF, who earned the distinction of United States Presidential Scholar as a graduating senior from North Kingstown High School.

Ryan is a long-time member of NCRC who earned his Technician license at age 13, and went on to earn his General license.  Besides his obvious interest in Amateur Radio, Ryan has been a congressional page at the Rhode Island state house and has become the youngest person to author and introduce a bill (already approved by the House).

With his accomplishments, Ryan has been able to pick from many colleges, and has decided to enter Roger Williams’s 3 + 3 program in the fall, majoring in Political Science and hoping to obtain his Jurisprudence degree.
