Jason Sagamang’s father, Dave, passed away suddenly Sunday evening. Although he had some health issues, this was unexpected. Dave was the second of the three generations of Sagamang NCRC members (Dave Sr., Dave, and now Jason). Dave held calls KC0KDA and AC0CQ.
There will be a wake from 3-7 PM on Thursday (Dec 31) at Memorial Funeral Home in Newport. On Saturday (Jan 2), the procession from Memorial Funeral Home will leave at 9:15 AM for a funeral mass held at St Barnabas church in Portsmouth at 10 AM. Following the mass, there will be a service at St Columba cemetery in Middletown.
Elections were held on our November 9th meeting, and the following slate of officers were elected:

With Columbus Day on October 12th, the next regular club meeting will be held on Tuesday October 13th.

The Newport County Radio Club will be qualifying a NEW Island On The Air (IOTA), Turnip Island, Housatonic River, Connecticut under the US Islands Award Program on Saturday 19 September, 2015 from 1200-2000 UTC using the call sign W1SYE. Operating frequency will be 14.250-14.259 MHz or 7.250 MHz, depending on band conditions.
Please try to work this never before activated island and help the crew get official recognition.
