NCRC March Meeting

Our regular March 2022 NCRC meeting will be held via Zoom on Monday March 14th at 7PM.  Invitations for the meeting will be sent via email.

The club is trying something new to see if we can make our meetings less about business and more about things we care about.  With that in mind, we will no longer discuss committee reports during our meetings.  Instead we will publish them on the club website under Documents/Current Year Documents/Current Year Committee Reports.  Please check under the Documents Tab for details on the club’s workings.

The business part of our meeting will now be reserved for items that require a vote by the membership (like new applicants, or significant expenditure of funds).  That will leave more time for the presentation and socializing.  Of course if a member has any business item to discuss, please feel free to bring it up during the meeting.

Minutes of each meeting will continue to be published under Documents/Current Year Documents/Current Year Minutes

The presentation will be given by Paul K1YBE, who will cover an introduction to Celestial Navigation.  Members are invited to join the club for a Field Trip on Saturday March 19th from 11am-1pm at Brenton Point Park in Newport.  Sextants will be available.  Of course members are free to setup and run HF gear as well (like POTA)

Club Meeting Monday January 10 at 7 PM

Hi everyone!

NCRC will have a Zoom meeting on Monday January 10 at 7 PM.  Invitations are being emailed Sunday afternoon.

In addition to our short business meeting, we will discuss Winter Field Day, which will no longer be at Glen Park due to the COVID outbreak in RI – Anyone can use their home station, or setup an outdoor station using their own call and still give credit to the club aggregate score (set the “CLUB” item to “W1SYE” in your log submission).

We will also experiment with a new Zoom feature that allows us to break into small groups – exactly what happens during a physical meeting so that we can get to know each other and discuss our goals. And we will introduce a new interview segment that we will have from time to time so that members can get to know each other better.

Happy New Year!

Year-end Virtual Party Monday Dec 13 at 7 PM

You are invited to join Newport County Radio Club online via Zoom (invitation sent via email) for a virtual year-end party on Monday December 13th at 7 PM.

While we can’t offer you hors d’oeuvre and libations, you are more than welcome to partake on your own.

We will have a brief review of what went on during the 2021 year, along with an announcement of an in-person event on Saturday December 18th (11 AM to 1 PM).  Our scavenger hunt will be returning again, complete with prizes for the winners (an end-fed half-wave antenna, club membership, wearable items, and other tchotchkes).  I hear that Paul’s elves have worked on a new score for the club’s song.

Hoping to see everyone Monday at 7 PM!

Virtual Year-End Party Monday December 13th at 7 PM

Rather than have a year-end party, after two surveys of the membership, it was determined that a virtual party will be held again via Zoom on Monday December 13th at 7 PM.

There will be a brief review of the club activities during 2021 by outgoing President Peter KQ1X.  Nancy KC1NEK will announce an in-person get together for December 18th from 11 AM until 1 PM – A “MOTA” mines-on the air event.  Paul K1YBE and helper elves will have another scavenger hunt with a bunch of nice prizes.  And, the club song with new and improved soundtrack will be revealed.

Club members will receive an invitation on Sunday via email as usual.

Hope you can join us!
