JOTA Scout Invite

NCRC will be participating in our SIXTH Jamboree On The Air, which begins Friday October 19th, and finishes Sunday October 21st, at Glen Park, in Portsmouth RI

The scouts will be working on the Radio merit badge, and Jim KA1ZOU has been working hard to streamline the instruction process.

Attention Scouts — Please download and complete this pre-JOTA package before October 19th:   Pre-Jota-Workbook

Attention Instructors — You can find the JOTA Volunteer Instructor information near the top of the Member Only Page.

NCRC members will be providing instructional help, along with on-the-air experiences for High Frequency (think international coverage) as well as VHF (local coverage), plus DSTAR on Reflector 33A (which works via the internet).

NCRC will also be operating a Satellite Station.  Because contact opportunities are very brief (10 minute window), this will require fairly rapid-fire and short contacts.  The station will be on the air from 10 AM until 8 PM

Please Note, while mist is OK, if it is raining hard, the satellite station will be off the air (the antenna system is not waterproof).  Too early to be sure, but at this point it looks like rain in the morning, but clear from noon on.  Keep an eye on the weather and plan your trip accordingly.

  • From 10-11:59AM there are 4 opportunities
  • From 12-1:59PM there are 7 opportunities
  • From 2-3:59PM there are 3 opportunities
  • From 4-5:59PM there are 6 opportunities
  • From 6-7:59PM there are 7 opportunities

Satellite Passe (actual times) can be found here

The HF, VHF, and Satellite stations can be found around the Horse Barns
