{"id":6090,"date":"2022-04-01T16:26:10","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T20:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/?p=6090"},"modified":"2022-04-01T16:26:47","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T20:26:47","slug":"new-fcc-fee-does-not-apply-to-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/?p=6090","title":{"rendered":"New FCC Fee Does NOT Apply to Upgrades!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Important Message from ARRL VEC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By Maria Somma, AB1FM, ARRL VEC Manager<\/p>\n<p>The FCC released a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/arrl.informz.net\/z\/cjUucD9taT0yNDYwNTM4JnA9MSZ1PTUyMDM4MTU3MSZsaT0yNDYyOTk1NQ\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/arrl.informz.net\/z\/cjUucD9taT0yNDYwNTM4JnA9MSZ1PTUyMDM4MTU3MSZsaT0yNDYyOTk1NQ\/index.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1648927836792000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0ymcpWrljhKHA-r7xEJCr9\"><strong>Public Notice<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on March 23, 2022, stating that the amateur radio application fees, including those associated with Form 605 application filings, would become\u00a0<strong>effective on April 19, 2022<\/strong>. The Federal Communications Commission&#8217;s authority to impose and collect fees is mandated by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The $35 application fee, when it becomes effective on April 19, will apply to new, renewal, and modification applications that request a new vanity call sign. The fee will be per application.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Administrative updates, such as a change of name, mailing or email address, and modification applications to upgrade an amateur radio licensee\u2019s operator class*, will be exempt from fees.
