{"id":5564,"date":"2020-11-01T17:09:48","date_gmt":"2020-11-01T22:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/?p=5564"},"modified":"2020-11-02T10:43:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-02T15:43:09","slug":"ncrc-pota-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/?p=5564","title":{"rendered":"NCRC POTA Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NCRC Parks On The Air (POTA) Group is growing, with many successful activations in the month of October.\u00a0 Fairly simple radios and antennas are deployed in state or national parks recognized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parksontheair.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ParksOnTheAir<\/a> program. An example of a recent activation is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dem.ri.gov\/maps\/mapfile\/huntingatlas\/23.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coccumcussoc State Park in North Kingstown<\/a>.\u00a0 It was activated for the first time by Ryan KC1KUF.\u00a0 Ryan, 14 and a freshman at North Kingstown High School, started working on his radio license 2 years ago, and completed his General this summer.\u00a0 In that time he has become an accomplished Winter &amp; Summer Field Day operator, so it is only natural that he would find new ways to get on the air in the field.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5568\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5568\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5568\" src=\"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"779\" srcset=\"https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/w1sye.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Ryan-3.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5568\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ryan KC1KUF activating Coccumcussoc State Park.
