Pete Lawson Outdoor Adventure

Pete Lawson W1LAB doing what he liked best – being outdoors!

Pete Lawson, W1LAB, became a Silent Key in July of 2021. Pete served in may roles within the club, but is best know for his love of the outdoors. Being a renowned sailor, Pete combined his love of the water with his ham radio hobby by encouraging the club to become active in setting up radio gear on islands and lighthouses all up and down the east coast.

Friends of Pete have setup a fund to encourage the club to continue in his spirit of outdoor activity and gathering together as friends. We are happy to announce the “Pete Lawson Outdoor Adventure” as our end of summer celebration for 2022.

All club members and their family & friends are invited to attend this event which will be held on September 18th at the pavilion at Fort Getty on Jamestown from 1 PM until 6 PM.

The event is free to members, and will included a catered mid-afternoon meal. Because of the need to ensure a fairly accurate count for the caterer, we are asking that you indicate your intention to attend by putting down a $20 deposit to hold your place. When you arrive at the event, the deposit will be fully refunded! Reserve your tickets here:

It is the intention of Newport County Radio Club to hold a similar outdoor event every year into the future. Friends of Pete have already setup a fund to help ensure this. However, we would certainly appreciate any contribution you would like to make for this purpose. NCRC will add whatever funds are donated, and donations in excess of the cost of the current event will be carried forward for future Outdoor Adventures. Make your donation here:
