Newport County Radio Club Get-On-The-air-Challenge

April, 25, 2021:  The Get-On-The-Air Challenge ran from Jan 1 to March 31, 2021. The goal was to get as many Club members on the air as we could, especially those with a General license. We only had nine participants, less than we hoped for. Participants who made 25 or more contacts will receive a GOTA-C certificate hand made by Jim Sammoms, KA1ZOU.

We are standing down from the challenge for the summer and re-evaluating plans to assist members to get on the air. It is quite likely that we will have some events outdoors under the Parks-On-The-Air (POTA) program to demonstrate how easy HF operations are. This past fall and winter, POTA activations in Rhode Island parks have been very successful for participating members. The plan is build on this and invite all members who are interested to a larger show and tell activation. Announcements forth coming.
