Broadband HamNet Symposium
April 27, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Symposium At CCRI, Knight Campus Auditorium
Warwick, Rhode Island
CCRI Engineering Department and
COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF RI RADIO CLUBAre the sponsors for this first event.
Thank you for your interest and support on this project. It has been an ongoing, albeit slow, project for the whole of Rhode Island as well as Amateur Radio. Please, bear with me as this project grows. I may have included some folks in the email list that do not wish to receive email from this group and at the same time may have missed others who wish to be included. Please, pass along this information to others who you think will be interested. I am asking folks to send an email to: n1gke@cox.net. Please put in the subject line: Broadband Hamnet – RI -. This will put your email in the proper folder and it will be handled according to your instructions. Thank you. This Symposium is the first of several planned over the summer months in various locations throughout the New England area. I am relying on other Amateur Radio operators to lend a hand if possible and help to push this endeavour forward. Many of the folks already involved bring to the arena a vast knowledge in various aspects of communication, from the component level right through national and international rules and regulations.
When: The first date we were able to have set aside was April 13th, which is a Sunday. Start time is10 AM sharp. This is a four hour symposium with, hopefully, a hands on after.
What to bring. If you have a Linksys router, model WRT54G, bring it. Please, see this web site and check your model against the list of supported hardware. If you router is not on the list, do not throw it away. There maybe folks working on the software for it.
Database of supported equipment
Bring a lap-top if you have one, or partner up with someone so we can go through the motions of obtaining proper file for download/save/upload to get you router setup with proper addressing.
Please, if you can attend let me know in advance. I can’t thank the folks at CCRI enough for supporting us this way and I’d also like to show them how much we appreciate allowing us a safe and wide open area for doing this.
Spring is right around the corner, here’s hoping. . .

I can be reached most days on the Quahognet.com repeater system. If you call me allow ample time to answer as I may be on tele with any one of my doctors or the laywers. I would appreciate if you call me by phone using the *82 before my phone number. Otherwise you may get only the answer machine. Like you, I’d much rather to chat with the person calling than to leave a message.
